Rain & Roses {Morrisville, NC Family Photographer}

I feel the pain of parents during their photo session and try to alleviate it by letting them all know that it’s totally normal to feel like utter chaos is breaking out before your eyes.  Kids won’t look, won’t smile, try to run away, ask for the playground (even when there isn’t one), and are on their never-ending hunt for something to eat.  In my welcome packet to all clients, I try to warn for this environment but perhaps there really is no preparation!  My best advice?  Relax 🙂  They will pick up on your energy and if you’re having fun and loving on them, they will generally do the same (yes, crunchy snacks do help!)  Second piece of advice?  I know most of us are wanting that “picture-perfect” portrait of our families with everyone looking, simultaneously smiling, with not a hair out of place… however… with particularly young children, I emphasize accepting a natural, casual approach.  My favorites are where I capture your family just being you, interacting the way you would if I wasn’t there.  It takes the pressure out of the situation and allows for some truly memorable moments.  Love how these family pictures came out… (even though we were chased out of this magical Rose Garden a bit early by rain!)
